How to Verify My Account – ZenMarket.jp


Thank you for choosing ZenMarket! If you’ve reached this page, it probably means we’ve asked you for some means of ID verification. Please, don’t worry! The process is really simple and we’ll walk you through it.

 

Why do we need to verify your account?

Sometimes depending on specific conditions, the payments system may automatically flag your payments as suspicious. Either your payment method or your entire account may be temporarily blocked while we verify your account.

We require your patience and collaboration so we can complete this verification process as quickly as possible, and then you’ll be able to continue shopping hassle-free.

Once we finish verifying your payment method, we usually don’t have to ask you for further validations, so please kindly bear with us just this once.

What do we need to verify?

We just need to verify that you’re the rightful owner of the payment method you’re using and that your ZenMarket account details match. All your personal information will be stored securely and we will not share it with third parties (see our Privacy Policies). There’s nothing more important to us than making sure all our users are protected: the security of both your account and payment methods is paramount to us.

 

How to complete this security check?

There are 5 main types of information we may request during our security check.

Due to various security factors, we may request you to provide some or all of this information before proceeding with the order.

Photo ID Confirmation

In some cases we may ask you to provide a photo by uploading it via a GetID link shared with you on your Messages tab.

GetID is a secure service that performs the security check on your ID on our behalf, ensuring that the check runs smoothly and quickly. Once you’ve uploaded your photo to the link, please let us know in your account chat.

Doing so will help us to address your case faster.

 

 

Card Verification

When you pay with a credit or debit card through Stripe, the easiest, safest and most commonly requested verification source is your Character Descriptor Code.

What is and where can I find the Character Descriptor Code?

The Character descriptor Code is a 6 characters alphanumeric code, which can be found in your payment card statement right next to your ZenMarket transaction, consisting of either letters and numbers together (for example, YG6U5H) or letters only in some cases (for example, JUIGIG).

You can easily find it in your offline statement (printed) under the “transactions” section.

Bank Credit Card Statement

If you don’t have immediate access to your printed card statement, you can also access your online statement through your bank’s home banking option in their webpage, or perhaps you’re already receiving it regularly through email in the digital form.

This code is found right next to the details of the payment you made to ZenMarket. There is a code assigned to each and every payment. It is enough to provide One Character Descriptor Code per card to successfully confirm it.

You only need to provide one code per card

Sometimes your bank may not openly disclose this information, so if no matter what you do you can’t provide this code, you may either ask your bank about the Character Descriptor Code directly or let us know and we will try to think of an alternative way to confirm your card.

You must then submit your code here.

 

Depending on the situation, we may ask customers to provide both the Character Descriptor Code and the payment statement. If you cannot find the code, you can provide us with a copy of the statement first.

 

We’ll then check the data in it and let you know whether the check can be completed.

 

We may also request a photo of your card

Credit Card Confirmation

Make sure to hide the first few digits

 

Please, for security reasons, only show

  1. the last 4 digits,
  2. the cardholder’s name, and
  3. the expiry date.  

This is usually requested in combination with your ID so that we can confirm that the payment is authorized by the cardholder.

The name on the ID should match the name of the cardholder.

How to Confirm a PayPal Account

To confirm your PayPal, we send you a verification URL through email. Confirming a PayPal account is much easier than confirming a credit card, or debit card.

You will find the verification link inside an automatic email we send to the email address associated with that PayPal account.

Pro-tip: The safest and most efficient way to ship your items is choosing your PayPal verified address as your shipping address.

 

“Why was I blocked!?”

Sometimes due to the security check depending on the circumstances, our system may disable some functions of your account (bidding, purchasing and sending parcels). You may still always send us messages; please check your inbox for important communications.

Please don’t worry, it is a temporary measure. Your account will be available for shopping as soon as the security check is finished.

Please keep in mind that security checks are performed manually, usually only on business days, from 9 AM to 6 PM (Japan Standard Time).

To speed up the process, the department in charge of checking the information you provide also operates on weekends; however, there are fewer personnel working, and more time is needed to address your response on those days.
