Before we get to our favorite characters, let’s talk a bit about the Suikoden games as a memory refresher. The Suikoden Series is a JRPG series that was first released back in 1995 on the PlayStation and later in 1998 for both PC and the Sega Saturn.

What sets Suikoden apart from the other JRPG games of its era is its thrilling and exciting story and the massive roster of 108 characters, many of whom also appear in later games as well.

Now we finally get to our top characters to look out for in the new upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Most of the characters are from Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 as those are the ones we’ve grown up playing but we added characters from the later games too to not disappoint anyone. So let us get right to it!

1. Mukumuku

We start our list off with Mukumuku from Suikoden 2. He is the leader of the Five Squirrel Squad and makes for a great beast/monster ally because of his solid stats. Mukumuku is a character many miss during their first playthrough but once you find him he becomes a monstrous (quite literally) party member. Did I also mention he’s a squirrel?

2. Razro

The protagonist of Suikoden 4, Razro is one of the most popular characters in the series. From his kind and generous personality to his adept skills as a fighter and mage he is everything the ideal hero should be. No doubt he is our pick for the best character of Suikoden series.

3. Pesmerga

Pesmerga is a mysterious black knight who appears in Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2. He searches for the black knight Yuber and is an all-round powerhouse of a character. May I just say that he has to be one of the coolest character designs in the game too.

4. Valeria

Valeria appears in Suikoden 1 and 2 and is one of the best characters in the game. Cool design, strong personality, great stats, falcon rune, and femme fatale. What more could we ask for?

5. Thomas

Thomas is the lord of Budehuc Castle and appears in Suikoden 3. He is a pretty average character in combat but due to his many skill slots, he is the most versatile character in the game. His arc is one of the most interesting too, showing his growth in dire times.

6. Viktor

Viktor is one of the most beloved characters in Suikoden games and appears in the first and second releases of the series. A great guy and the BFF of Filk even if they hate each other. You can be sure he’ll be on someone’s list of favorite Suikoden characters.

7. Jeane

Jeane is among the characters who have appeared in every Suikoden game from 1-5. She runs the rune shops in your HQ and gives access to runes. We can also credit her for awakening puberty for many fans thanks to her “runes”.

8. Flik

Filk is a mercenary who appears in Suikoden 1 and 2. He is a brave warrior and a great fighter as well as an effective leader. In Suikoden 2 he becomes even more effective after he overcomes the loss of his lover Odessa.

9. Tir McDohl

The Protagonist of Suikoden 1, Tir McDohl is the favorite of many. He appears in Suikoden 2 as well as a potential teammate too by transferring your save file after recruiting all 108 Stars of Destiny.

10. Geddoe

Geddoe appears in Suikoden 3 and is one of the unique characters of the series. Interesting main character, fun to use in combat, great character design, and has great stats and abilities, there’s absolutely no reason for him not to be included in the list.

11. Clive

Clive is an interesting character who appears in Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 with a quest of his own to find out the reason for his best friend’s murder. Remembered for the quest you need to take in order to recruit him into your team.

12. Chris Lightfellow

Chris Lightfellow appears in Suikoden 3 and is the hero of Zexen. She is also known as the Silvermaiden due to her silver hair and the armor she wears. A strong and kind knight she’s the ideal warrior everyone wants to be.

13. Rita

Rita from Suikoden 4 is a fan favorite because she’s the creator of the Ritapon mini-game. She can manage the Ritapon game at your HQ and also fight as a really good mage/fighter. Truly a favorite of many for a good reason.

14. Luc

Luc is one of the most interesting characters of the series who has appeared in Suikoden 1-3. He is the antagonist in the third game but is also playable in a separate storyline involving him. He is the strongest mage character in Suikoden 3.

15. Pilika

Pilika is a small girl who lives with her family in Suikoden 2. She’s a cheerful and upbeat little cutie who deeply cares for Jowy.

16. Viki

Viki is one of the only few characters in the series who has appeared in every single Suikoden game from 1 to 5. After joining you she lets you teleport to areas you have previously visited from your HQ. She’s somewhat a bit aloof but we love her because she makes life easier.

17. Sgt. Joe

Sgt. Joe is a duck from Suikoden 3. But he’s no ordinary duck, he’s a well-accomplished warrior of the duck clan. Not only an adept warrior he’s also quite the looker according to duck standards. His eyes and tail are his best features.

18. Nanami

Nanami is the step-sister of Riou and one of the key characters of Suikoden 2. Many had to retry the game over and over just so she didn’t die. In-game she’s a pretty balanced character with good speed stats.

19. Tengaar

We finally get to the Tsundere Tengaar who appears in Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2. She is the daughter of warrior village Zorak’s chief and joins your adventures along with her boyfriend Hix. She makes for an excellent magic character.

20. Piccolo

Piccolo appears in Suikoden 3 and shouldn’t be confused with another piccolo who is green or the instrument. He’s the fortune teller of Budehuc Castle and was a student of the great mage Crowley.

21. Lily Pendragon

Lily Pendragon is the daughter of Gustav Pendragon, leader of Tinto town. In Suikoden 2 you rescue her during your fight against Neclord and in Suikoden 5 she becomes the leader of Tinto and an excellent fencer.

22. Fuwalafuwalu

Fuwalafuwalu is the old chief of Beaver Lodge in Suikoden 5. He joins you after an attack on his village and aids you in your quest. He has a really neat character design.

23. Gadget

Gadget is quite different from the rest of the characters as he is a barrel. He’s a robot barrel from Suikoden 2 created by Meg for her journey. He makes for a decent mid-game party member but other than that he’s pretty average. I mean he is a barrel so what else did you exactly expect? Makes for a cute mascot though.

24. Sierra Mikain

Sierra is a vampire that you encounter in Suikoden 2 who joins you after beating Neclord in your quest. Not much is known about her other than the fact she has been alive (do vampires count as living?) for over 800 years. Nonetheless, she’s a very interesting and mysterious character.

25. Kinnison

Kinnison is a Hunter from Suikoden 2 who lives with his dog Shiro. You can recruit both of them to join your quest so not only do you get a great teammate but also a very good boy as well. Kinnison is an archer unit with some decent stats making him a good choice for your party.

26. Shiro

Now it’s time to talk about the lovable best boy Shiro. Shiro is Kinnison’s pet wolf dog. He is a beast/animal-type character with really good stats, excelling at attack, defense, and speed. He can also become one of the fastest characters in the game.

27. Jowy

Jowy is the childhood friend of both Riou and Nanami in Suikoden 2. What sets him apart from the rest of the characters is that he betrays you at one point in the story but also rejoins you later. Even though he has betrayed us we still love him for his character and great stats.

28. Stallion

Stallion is an elf who appears in Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 and prides himself on his speed. He is an archer unit with very high speed. Not really that notable of a character but he does provide the party with the ability to run and doubles the overworld walking speed.

29. Belcoot

Belcoot is one of the first male characters in the series to bear the Falcon Rune who appears in Suikoden 5. He is one of the better-off front-line fighters who has good attack and defense stats. An all-round great choice for your party.

30. Milich

Milich is a narcissistic general with an amazing fashion sense to die for found in Suikoden 1. He is a magic character with pretty decent all-round stats making him a decent party member. Just don’t go to the baths with him.
