Project Case Study
From 1/100 to 1/72: Large-Scale Kshatriya Build
A large collector-focused mecha project enlarged from an original 1/100 model to 1/72 scale. The build required scale conversion, multipart preparation, resin production, structural planning, and assembly strategy for a much larger physical result.

The Challenge
Enlarging a complex mecha from 1/100 to 1/72 increases more than the visible size. Parts become heavier, connection points carry more load, print-volume limits become more important, and assembly tolerances matter more. The goal was to preserve the visual detail of the original design while making the larger physical build practical to print and assemble.
Production Approach
1. Scale Conversion
The original 1/100 model was enlarged to 1/72 while maintaining proportions and checking how the new size affected individual components.
2. Multipart Preparation
Large sections were evaluated for printable breakdowns, orientation, fit, and assembly rather than treating the enlarged model as one direct print job.
3. Resin Production
High-detail resin printing was used for the visible model components so the larger scale could retain crisp mechanical surfaces and panel detail.
4. Structural Planning
Connection areas, load-bearing sections, alignment, and assembly order were considered because the enlarged parts create significantly more weight and leverage.
5. Test Fit & Assembly
Printed components were test-fit during the build to identify fit issues before additional armor and outer components were added.
6. Scale Validation
Smaller completed models were placed beside the build to communicate the true size difference and confirm the visual impact of the enlargement.
What This Project Demonstrates
- Accurate enlargement of an existing model to a new display scale
- Preparation of complex multipart geometry for physical production
- High-detail resin printing at larger-than-standard scale
- Practical planning for fit, weight, alignment, and assembly
- Experience with collector-focused mecha and large display builds
